EControls is looking for a Battery Charger Subject Matter Expert to join our growing R&D Engineering team.
Key Job Elements
- Electrical Design & Development – Design and validate high‑power industrial lithium‑based battery chargers, including AC‑DC and DC‑DC converter topologies such as PFC, phase‑shifted full bridge, isolated stages, buck/boost systems, and related power architectures.
- Component Selection & Optimization – Select MOSFETs, SiC/GaN devices, and magnetics based on performance, cost, and reliability requirements.
- PCB Layout Leadership – Provide technical guidance to PCB layout teams to ensure optimal electrical, thermal, and EMI performance.
- System Testing & Validation – Lead efficiency, thermal, EMI/EMC, and environmental validation testing to ensure reliability and compliance.
- Safety & Compliance – Ensure charger designs meet UL standards, industrial safety requirements, and lithium battery safety considerations.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in power electronics design with a focus on charger development.
- Proficiency with Altium and familiarity with power electronics simulation tools.
- Experience designing high‑efficiency (>20 kW) battery chargers
- Strong knowledge of single‑phase and three‑phase charger design
- Expertise in PFC, phase‑shifted full bridge, buck and boost topologies
- Familiarity with lithium‑ion chemistry, charging algorithms, and safety considerations
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety
